A formulation is given for the spectral transformation of the generalized eigenvalue problem through the decomposition of the second-order differential operators. This allows us to construct some Laurent biorthogonal polynomial systems with gaps in the degree of the polynomial sequence. These correspond to an exceptional-type extension of the orthogonal polynomials, as an extension of the Laurent biorthogonal polynomials. Specifically, we construct the exceptional extension of the Hendriksen–van Rossum polynomials, which are biorthogonal analogs of the classical orthogonal polynomials. In this paper, we present a unified finite volume method preserving discrete maximum principle (DMP) for the conjugate heat transfer problems with general interface conditions. We prove the existence of the numerical solution and the DMP-preserving property. Numerical experiments show that the nonlinear iteration numbers of the scheme in [24] increase rapidly when the interfacial coefficients decrease to zero. In contrast, the nonlinear iteration numbers of the unified scheme do not increase when the interfacial coefficients decrease to zero, which reveals that the unified scheme is more robust than the scheme in [24]. Some new sixth-order compact finite difference schemes for Poisson/Helmholtz equations on rectangular domains in both two- and three-dimensions are
developed and analyzed. Different from a few sixth-order compact finite difference
schemes in the literature, the finite difference and weight coefficients of the new
methods have analytic simple expressions. One of the new ideas is to use a weighted
combination of the source term at staggered grid points which is important for grid
points near the boundary and avoids partial derivatives of the source term. Furthermore, the new compact schemes are exact for 2D and 3D Poisson equations if the
solution is a polynomial less than or equal to 6. The coefficient matrices of the new
schemes are $M$-matrices for Helmholtz equations with wave number $K≤0,$ which
guarantee the discrete maximum principle and lead to the convergence of the new
sixth-order compact schemes. Numerical examples in both 2D and 3D are presented

A cell mapping strategy based on Bellman'sPrinciple of optimality (BP) is proposed to solve the fixed final time optimalcontrol of strongly nonlinear systems with state and control bounds. Thefixed final time problem is transformed into a fixed final time-fixed finalstate optimal control problem by reversing the time. This transformationallows to solve the problem in the framework of the BP. Backward searchingalgorithms within the cell mapping context are used to obtain the solution ofthe new problem. This approach reduces considerably the computational effortrequired for the original problem when it is solved by a forward searchingapproach. The vibration control problem of damped and undamped variablestiffness oscillators with bounded stiffness tuning range is studied todemonstrate the effectiveness of the approach. Unsaturated soil is a three-phase media and is composed of soil grain,water andgas.In this paper,the consolidation problem of unsaturated soil is investigated basedon the theory of mixture.A theoretical formula of effective stress on anisotropicporous media and unsaturated soil is derived.The principle of effective stress and theprinciple of Curie symmetry are taken as two fundamental constitutive principles ofunsaturated soil.A mathematical model of consolidation of unsaturated soil isproposed,which consists of25 partial differenfial equations with25 unknowns.Withthe help of increament linearizing method,the model is reduced to5 governingequations with5 unknowns,i.e.,the three displacement components of solid phase,thepore water pressure and the pore gas pressure.7 material parameters are involved inthe model and all of them can be measured using soil tests.It is convenient to use themodel to engineering practice.The well known Biot’s theory is a special case of themodel. 相似文献
